Mystic Number 9

What is so important about the number 9. We (Indians) consider that this number has got some mystic power behind it. We have navagrahas ( 9 planets ), navaratnas ( 9 jewels ), navadhanyam ( 9 grains ), navarasam ( 9 feelings ), navapashanam ( 9 stones) , navadhwaram ( 9 holes ). Also we have Goddess Durga's festival navaratri. Navami is an important day and is considered to be auspicious. so why so much about the number 9.

A bramhachari is also asked to chant gayatri mantra in multiples of 9's ( 27, 54, 108 etc....) Not only gayatri mantra, even the panchakshari mantra is also chanted in multiples of 9.

The reason behind is simple yet very powerful which will leave us thinking for a while.
According to Sanatana Dharma, number 8 is considered to be the number of humans and number 9 is considered to be the number of god.

Humans are greedy beings. The more they get the more they want. There's no end to his wants. But as a person keeps moving up in life, achieving greater things, he keeps decreasing his value.

Lets see why our rishis gave humans the number 8 with this example. Lets look into the multiple table of 8.

8 * 1 = 8 = 8 + 0 = 8
8 * 2 = 16 = 1 + 6 = 7
8 * 3 = 24 = 2 + 4 = 6
8 * 4 = 32 = 3 + 2 = 5
8 * 5 = 40 = 4 + 0 = 4
8 * 6 = 48 = 4 + 8 = 12 = 1 + 2 = 3
8 * 7 = 56 = 5 + 6 = 11 = 1 + 1 = 2
8 * 8 = 64 = 6 + 4 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1
8 * 9 = 72 = 7 + 2 = 9
8 * 10 = 80 = 8 + 0 = 8

If you observe the results carefully, you see that human start with a value 8. But as he is not satisfied with his present life, he tries to multiply himself with higher numbers (things) and feels that he is growing up in life. But he forgets that every time he is multiplying himself with higher values he is actually losing his value. But ultimately when he multiplies himself with the number 9, the number of god, he becomes god.

Now lets look at multiples of 9

9 * 1 = 9 = 9 + 0 = 9
9 * 2 = 18 = 1 + 8 = 9
9 * 3 = 27 = 2 + 7 = 9
9 * 4 = 36 = 3 + 6 = 9
9 * 5 = 45 = 4 + 5 = 9
9 * 6 = 54 = 5 + 4 = 9
9 * 7 = 63 = 6 + 3 = 9
9 * 8 = 72 = 7 + 2 = 9
9 * 9 = 81 = 8 + 1 = 9
9 * 10 = 90 = 9 + 0 = 9

The number 9 no matter what you multiply with never loses its value. Its always constant. This is because our rishis attributed number 9 as the number of god.

No matter how much we grow in life, unless we identify ourselves with god we are always short of the biggest number

Apology

Its been months and I haven't got time to write. Lately I got a little busy but was doing good on FB, Bz and Tw, ah...that's some relief or else I would have been another dumb office going man with nothing else in his life apart from work and weekends.

One should not get so busy in life that he doesn't have time to spend for himself. Daily somewhere or the other we keep learning something, and we come to know what we have learned only when we self retrospect. What's the use of knowing something when you cannot reproduce it when its needed. So today I promise myself that I'll take time to write out something atleast one post every week.....let me see how much its viable, I know its not that difficult.

Also for our own self improvement we need to write it down. So many things float around in our brains everyday that it becomes hard to focus on what is important. By writing out and consistently reviewing them, we keep our ideas fresh in our mind and they become part of our everyday thinking. I'm also planning to start carrying a journal along with me so that I don't loose my thoughts and also it will be easy for me to work on my ideas later without having to recollect all my thoughts.

Wishing myself all the best :)

Dighambhara...

Lord Shiva has an another name saying "Dighambhara". Dighambhara literally means Naked or Without clothes.
So arises a question, is Lord Shiva Naked, isn't being Naked against the dharma and isn't shameful. How can a god be naked.
It can be said that because its god he can do anything, he can be naked or he can be half dressed or fully dressed. But thats not right. Even god has to follow the dharma because he is the one who created it.

Lets say there was a very wealthy man in a village, he had kilos of gold in his house. One day he decided that he would wear only gold, so he wears all kinds of ornaments made of gold right from the Mukuta (head gear) to the Padukas (Slippers) without even a single piece of cloth over his body and walks out. What would be your immediate feelings once you see him. Your eyes will not catch the glammor of gold but would immediately say, although he has everything made of gold doesn't he have few more money to buy some garments. Simillary you see another person who is very poor, has no ornaments but has covered his body with neat clothes, our immediate reaction would be.. Oh...poor guy, but a civilized person. So its not the ornaments that you wear that makes you civilized, its just a piece of cloth. So how can our god be naked. Does it mean that he is uncivilized. But that would be a total contradiction. How can a person who has taught you about civilization can be called an uncivilized person. Time to think...............

Dighambhara apart from meaning naked has other meanings as well. Its also means the person who has directions as his garments. Since Shiva is everywhere and as you cannot imagine a place without shiva, He is called Digambhara.
Dighambhara here means a person who has the 10directions as his clothes.

There's one more meaning to it. Clothes are a symobol of showing devotion to the person who created you. Thats the reason why we wear cleanly washed clothes after taking bath every morning and then say our daily prayers. As Shiva is the person who created everyone and there is no person above him to whom he can show devotion to he has no need to wear clothes, hence he is Dighambhara.

4th Idiot

Mr. Perfect aka. Aamir Khan is back with another bollywood hit 3 Idiots. This man some how keeps exceeding the audience

expectations. I felt its fully what we call " A Paisa wasool movie". Evey character has acted superbly in the movie, even Kareena

Kapoor I must added has really tried hard to act at some parts of the film. Although there are some exaggerations, which is

perfectly acceptable in a hindi movies. Afterall we cannot be too greedy right ?

The movie is all about the present education system. Rigth from Parents, teachers to students are all after good grades and marks

and no one talks about any new invention which is so true. We all wanna join top colleges and institues not to learn or gather

knowledge but just to get placed in some big MNC after 4years.

Although its just a movie, it is something that we all really need to think about. Universities are the seeds, water and earth for

inventions. Only when the universities work towards developing new technologies will the R&D of a country develop. Its worth noting

that all the latest technologies that we see around today without which life would be nearly impossible like Internet, search

engines, etc was developed by university students and professors and not by any top MNC's.

Don't take me wrong, I'm not totally against the education system that we have in place today. but we cannot deny the fact that

changes need to be done. India today, to the world is just another service providing nation. Maximum of the inventions thathappen

outside India be it any front. Those guys put their brains and skills and develop new things. We just go, learn it from them and

implement it for them again, at a cheaper cost.

Why is it so. Is it because we donot have brains ? The answer is as you all know, its a BIG "NO". Then what's the reason ?

The answer to this (its my feeling ) We do have brains but we have never been taught how to use it. Rigth from childhood We are

only taught to repair not to create. We are just another machines, who do things with a little bit of artificial intelligence to modify things but not humans.

The reason behind being such a good service provider should be accredited to the

education system. Right from our schools we are taught to replicate whats there in the textbooks, the better you replicate better are your marks. No place for innovation, no time for thinking because we are so busy learning the inventions. As written by a son to his father in a letter, "Father I can't even recognize if Mr. Albert Einstein comes and stands before me, because I am too busy studying about him".

Its high time that we change our education pattern from theoretical base to practical base because we donot need "Mechanics" labelled as Engineers, but true "Engineers" who can create marvels.
